Standards

In these photos, a squirrel holds an umbrella. Another pushes a cart. Squirrels don’t do these things in the wild. But they do in Geert Weggen’s pictures! 

He is a photographer. Squirrels live in his yard. He takes fun photos of them. 

Props and Nuts

He gets props, like a mini cart. He uses wires to keep the props in place. Then he puts nuts and nut butter on them. The squirrels come and eat. 

As they eat, Geert takes pictures. Later he uses his computer to erase the wires.

He says that squirrels are great to work with. “They can walk upside down. They can make different poses. They can hold things in their hands like humans do.”
