Did someone say yeti?
Have you ever heard of a yeti? This is a creature that some people say is real. Other people say it is not. It is huge, lives in snowy mountains, and has fluffy white fur.
About 20 years ago, scientists discovered a new kind of crab. It has fluffy legs. Scientists named it the yeti crab. They thought it looked like a yeti!
The yeti crab lives in the deepest part of the ocean. It has no eyes. That’s OK. The water is very dark where it lives. It doesn’t need to see to get around.
The crabs use their furry claws to get food. How? They wave their claws through the water. It looks like the crabs are doing a cool crab dance. Waving their claws helps tiny bacteria grow on them. The crabs eat the bacteria off their own claws. Yum.
The yeti crab may look like a yeti, but this ocean creature is totally real!
