Question: What are the Disaster Squad books about?
Rekha Rajan: The books are about the Jackson family. They travel all around the country in their RV. That’s a big truck that you can live in. They help people during natural disasters, like tornadoes and blizzards.
Q: What kind of stories do you write?
RR: I write realistic fiction.
My stories are fiction because they are about a family I made up. But the facts about disasters are all real. The stories are made up, but they take place in the real world.
Q: How did you think of “Rescue in the Snow”?
RR: I was researching for my blizzard book. I wanted to know how animals stay safe in the snow. I found a story about a rabbit trapped next to a school. In real life, the school custodian saved the rabbit. In my story, the Jacksons saved it!
