These two pups got second place!

It’s a sunny day at the beach. Six dogs and their owners paddle out in the ocean. The people put their dogs on surfboards.

Now a wave rises in the water. The pups stand on their boards as the waves move forward. They are surfing!

Judges watch from the beach. They want to see which dogs can surf the longest. Which one will win?

The Championship

The World Dog Surfing Championships take place in California every summer. There are different contests at the championships. In some, dogs surf alone. In others, dogs surf with other dogs or with people. Thousands of people watch.

The winning dogs get medals. Some are excited after the competition. Others just want a nap.
